Minister of Children & Communications
Kevin Garrison was born in Reidsville NC and raised in rural Caswell County, NC. His parents still live in his childhood home. Kevin’s first memory of life is standing on the church pew thinking it should be him standing up on the church stage doing the singing, playing, and preaching. Around 3 years old, Kevin’s father built him a small pulpit in the backyard where Kevin would preach to a small but “wild” crowd. Kevin had a love for music from an early age and began piano lessons at age five; eventually discovering that God had given him a gift to play “by ear”. Kevin sang his first solo in church at age 12 and began working with children in his church when he was only a child. At 16, Kevin was asked to come be the pianist at a small, rural, Southern Baptist Church. Kevin was hired on full time as a church staff member at age 21 at Osborne Baptist Church in Eden, NC where he spent the next 19 years serving in various roles including music director, Education Director, and Children’s Pastor as the church grew from 300 to over 1700; 300 of those were preschool and elementary children each week. Kevin and his wife Luda, along with son Nikolai and daughter Miriam, came to Greenwood in 2014 and Kevin has served on staff at South Main since 2016. His current role is Minister of Elementary Children and Communications.
