Contemporary Worship Leader
Matthew has served as South Main Baptist Church’s interim contemporary worship leader since February of 2018. Matthew and his wife, Ayrn, came to South Main in 2016 after several years in the Greenwood community, where Matthew has worked at Lander University as the Director of Campus Recreation since 2013.
Matthew began playing guitar and singing at a young age and led worship at the church he grew up in for several years during middle and high school and even some during his college years. During college, he also led a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Campus Crusade (CRU) praise band at USC Upstate where he did his undergraduate work. He also graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master’s in Education with a focus in Recreation and Leisure Studies.
Besides music, he enjoys sports, playing and watching, and loves to workout. Matthew and Ayrn have two dogs, Koda and Baxter, who they enjoy spending time with. Matthew is a graduate of USC Upstate and the University of Georgia where he received a Master’s in Education with a focus in Recreation and Leisure Studies and Ayrn is the graduate of Lander University and Augusta University where she received a Master’s in Public Administration.
