TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
The fifth book of the Bible, Deuteronomy, is God’s reminder to Israel of all his love and commands as they prepared to enter the Promised Land. This verse reminds them to first “fear” the Lord (have a reverential awe for Him), second to “walk in obedience” to Him, third to “love” the Lord, and fourth to “serve” Him wholeheartedly.
The final phase in our scripture passage for today is a reminder that all of God’s commands and decrees are for our own good. Remember…the Lord is on your side! Are you on his?
“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?” (Deuteronomy 10:12-13)
