TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Our scripture for today tells us of Jesus crucifixion, one of the most hideous tortures the world has ever known. Victims were stripped of clothing, and then mocked, beaten, and paraded through the streets. Jesus was then nailed to a cross by His hands and feet. Imagine our Savior, suspended between heaven and earth and rejected by both. Earth rejected Him because of sin. Heaven rejected Him so He could die for our sins. This was the darkest moment in human history…what would become of us?
“Finally, Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So, the soldiers took charge of Jesus. Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.” (Jn. 19:16–18)
