TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
How can the horrible execution of Jesus on the Cross be referred to as “joy” in Hebrews 12:2 our assigned Bible passage for today? The reason is that Christ knew that his sacrifice would result in the defeat of sin, the restoration of our fallen world, and the salvation of men’s souls. This focus upon you and me gave Jesus Christ the motivation to endure the Cross with joy!
Hebrews 12:2b
For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
