Most of us have fond memories of a mom, grandmother, or other kind person who picked us up when we fell, bandaged our knees when we scraped them, and encouraged us when we had been bullied or knocked down.
And in the ninth chapter of the Gospel of John, Jesus in much the same way, picks us up when we are fallen and discouraged as we see a man who had been healed of blindness by Jesus mocked and verbally abused. Jesus found him, encouraged him, and saved him. And, Jesus is still in the saving business today. So, as you read, take him your bumps and bruises and your triumphs and tragedies. He can heal them all!
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.” 37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.” 38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
