UPDATE ON RE-GATHERING (May 4, 2020 4:00pm)
Important News from our Pastor about Re-Gathering at South Main
Our staff participated in a conference call last week with Governor Henry McMaster, and as the COVID-19 restrictions are slowly lifted, we are working on our plan to re-gather at South Main on a very limited basis.
Our plan so far is very general and tentative. We are in consultation with medical experts, local and state government officials, public and private education leaders, as well as dozens of other churches as we craft our plan.
In the paragraph below you will see our laddered approach to re-opening. Note also, that in tandem with our reopening you will be introduced to a complete set of new and effective safety and security policies. Also, please be aware that we are NOT yet having physical Sunday School classes, nor is preschool or childcare planned as of yet. Any children who attend, once we re-gather, would sit with their families during worship. Following is a plan for the month of May. Note that this COULD CHANGE as more information becomes available, and as we meet with our Leadership Council and Medical Team here at South Main.
MAY 10 – Special Mother’s Day features (streaming and radio only)
MAY 17 – Featuring our Joyful Journey wrap-up celebration (streaming and radio only)
MAY 24 – Graduation Recognition (limited re-opening for graduates and families)
MAY 31 – We are hopeful and are making tentative plans to reopen at the end of May. Of course, we need to balance reopening with our ability to implement measures to protect everyone’s health. More scheduling information to come soon.
Now, we understand that many folks may not and should not choose to participate in our physical gatherings at this time. If that is the case, we still have streaming and radio available for those who choose to watch or listen. But…we can all be together in PRAYER as we seek to worship, work, and plan together! Remember, as our community transitions away from official orders and guidelines, it will be critical that individuals assume wise personal responsibility for their social interactions.
Additionally, for the entire month of May, our Sunday School classes at South Main will still be held remotely by Zoom or Facebook Live. Just consult with your teacher and small group leaders for the time and method your Sunday School class will be meeting. And…please be diligent in “attending” your class remotely. You need your small group…and they need you!
Finally, let’s continue to make the effort to prayerfully participate together and see the great things God has in store for our church, our world, and your individual life!
Thanks, and may God bless you richly!
