WHY WE GIVE
Our finances, like every other area of our life, should be under the lordship of Jesus Christ. God blesses everything that we put under his authority and care, and our wealth and spending is no different. We are instructed in scripture give a tenth of our income to the Lord. This is called a tithe, and in the Bible we are encouraged to test the Lord to find him faithful in this area.
WHERE DOES MY GIFT GO?
When you give at South Main, your gift goes to hundreds of ministries, programs, and missions around the world to minister to people’s needs and introduce them to the love of Jesus Christ. Gifts are tax deductible and are fully and transparently under the review and consent of the members of South Main.
CREATE A FREE WILL
South Main has partnered with an organization called FreeWill to provide an online estate planning platform that can walk you through the process of writing a legal will at no charge to you or your family. This process used to take hours of time and sometimes thousands of dollars, but now you can make a legal will and it’s absolutely FREE!
So, take around 20 minutes of time to take advantage of this resource to write a will. Finally, note that your will goes through a review to make sure each will is valid and legal. VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DONATION

QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), also known as IRA Charitable Rollovers, are the savviest way for individuals age 70½ or older to use their IRAs to maximize their charitable impact by giving to a church or charity before taking their Required Minimum Distribution (not after). Giving this way helps maximize your gift while lowering your tax liability. So, whether you want to make a QCD gift to South Main Baptist Church, request a tax acknowledgment letter for a gift already made, or just learn more about QCDs, you can find resources by clicking on the link below.
GIVE STOCK
Donating stock is a simple way to support God’s work and receive potential tax benefits. Here's how:
1. Decide which stock and how many shares you'd like to give.
2. Let your broker know you'd like to transfer stock to South Main Baptist Church’s account at Edward Jones (Jennifer Erwin – 864โ366โ8483). She will provide transfer instructions.
3. Your broker will handle the paperwork and initiate the donation.
4. Once received, the church will send you an official receipt for your gift.
