TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

God chose a man named Ezekiel to speak to Israel, to tell them the error of their ways, and to teach them justice. The power of the word of the Lord, along with the hope it gives to the people, is illustrated in our focal scripture for today. Leading Ezekiel out to a valley full of dry, parched, and bleached bones, the Lord asked him if these bones could ever live again. Ezekiel answered that only God knows! But when the LORD told Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, flesh came upon them, and they were fully formed once again. He spoke God’s word to them a second time and breath entered the bodies, and they were alive again.

The word of God brings life and hope today as in the time of Ezekiel. As you read the verses in the Frost Family Bible Plan each week, maybe you, like Israel, need a strong word from God to be reminded of the error of your ways. Or you may be spiritually dry, parched, and dead. But there is hope! You can live again as the Word takes root in your life and you invite the Spirit of God to reanimate your soul!

The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.” (Ezekiel 37:1-5)
