Dear South Main Family,

For many years now, we have prayed, dreamed, and planned together for what God desires to do through South Main Baptist Church. What began as vision has now become opportunity. And this coming Sunday, April 12, is a sacred moment in the life of our church: Commitment Sunday.

We believe with all our hearts that to lengthen the cords of our ministry and mission around the world, we must first drive the stakes deeper here at home. Phase One of our 20-year campus master plan is before us, and it is both exciting and urgent. And by now, you are all familiar with the details of this plan.

  • Refreshing our worship center

  • Expanding and improving our platform to better serve our orchestra and those with mobility challenges

  • Creating a missions intern center beneath our sanctuary to equip the next generation for global impact

  • Transforming our choir room into a modern music and worship suite

  • And developing our South Main Sports facility into the “crown jewel of the Emerald City,” where thousands of families and children can grow physically, socially, and spiritually in Christ through our athletic and discipleship programs.

Church family, this is not just about buildings – it’s about people. It’s about reaching future generations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So, I am asking three things of every member of South Main:

  1. Pray. Seek the Lord earnestly. Ask Him what He would have you do. This is a spiritual moment before it is a financial one.

  2. Attend. Be present this Sunday. There is something powerful about gathering together as one body, unified in purpose and expectation.

  3. Commit. We are asking each member to make a three-year commitment, over and above regular giving. As you receive the giving estimator, I encourage you to step out in faith. Go as far up as you can. Trust God to do what only He can do.

As your pastor, I am calling us to believe God for big things. In the words often attributed to William Carey, let us “expect great things from God and attempt great things for God.”

Eternity hangs in the balance. Lives will be changed. Souls will be saved. The Kingdom will be advanced. So let us not miss this moment.

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…” (Ephesians 3:20).

Join God in His activity as He reaches and redeems our world. And let it begin right here at South Main.

With faith and anticipation,

Dr. Toby Frost
