📖 READ IT

"Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain be-hind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.” Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” So she went out, entered a field, and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek". - Ruth 2:2-3 NKJV

🔍 DISCOVER IT

In our scripture for today, Ruth’s story unfolds in a dusty, difficult place – the fields of Bethlehem. As a widow from Moab, she had every reason to feel defeated, overlooked, and uncertain about her future. Yet instead of despairing, Ruth chose faithfulness. She humbly took on the hard, dirty job of gleaning – picking up leftover grain behind the harvesters. This was work meant for the poor and the outsider, and Ruth was both. But her willingness to labor faithfully, combined with her trust in the God of Israel, positioned her for unexpected blessing. God led Ruth to the field of Boaz, a man of integrity and kindness. Boaz noticed her diligence and character (Ruth 2:12) and provided for her needs. What began as survival turned into abundance, and what seemed like coincidence was actually God’s providence at work. Ruth’s faithfulness in the fields became the pathway to God’s blessing, provision, and ultimately restoration and marriage to her kinsman redeemer.

💬 ASK IT

  1. Why do you think Ruth was willing to take on such a humble and difficult job? What does Ruth’s attitude toward work teach us about character and faith?

  2. Can you think of a time when doing something small or unnoticed led to a greater blessing? How do we sometimes overlook God’s hand in the “ordinary” parts of life?

  3. What does Boaz’s kindness teach us about how we should treat others, especially outsiders or those in need?

🙏 PRAY IT

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the example of Ruth, who shows us what it means to be faithful even in the hardest and most humble circumstances. Help us to trust You in the ordinary and difficult moments of life. Give us willing hearts to serve, even when the task seems small or unnoticed. Open our eyes to see Your hand at work in every situation. Teach us to rest under Your wings of protection and provision. May our faithfulness bring glory to You and lead to blessing in ways that only You can provide. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
