📖 READ IT

'And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. ' - Philippians 1:9-11 ESV

🔍 DISCOVER IT

One of the greatest gifts we can give our family members and church family is prayer. Paul loved the believers in Philippi, and his love moved him to pray for them. Notice that he didn't pray mainly for comfort, success, or an easier life. He prayed that they would grow in love, wisdom, holiness, and spiritual fruitfulness. When we pray for one another in this way, our hearts become more united, our faith grows stronger, and God's work becomes more evident in our homes.

💬 ASK IT

  1. As a family, how can you show love for one another this week? Review verse 9 again.

  2. What are ways that you are currently praying as a family?

🧭 LIVE IT

  • In verse 9 we read that our prayer is to be in knowledge and discernment. We need God’s help to make decisions. When we pray for one another, it helps us to seek God’s guidance together.

  • Paul also says that our lives will be filled with fruit of righteousness when we pray and God will receive the glory. Praying for one another brings joy in seeing God work in the lives of those you love the most.

  • Take a moment to pray for your spiritual family in these ways:

    • That their love for God and others will increase.

    • That they will be filled with wisdom.

    • That their lives will produce fruit.

    • That God will receive the glory.

🙏 PRAY IT

Thank You for the gift of family as well as our family of faith. Teach us to pray faithfully for one another. May our love abound more and more each day. Give us wisdom to make decisions that honor You and help us discern what is best. Fill our lives with the fruit of righteousness through Jesus Christ. We pray that as we encourage one another before Your throne, our family would become more like Christ.
