📖 READ IT

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” - Mark 10:45 NKJV

🔍 DISCOVER IT

When we think about Jesus, we often think of Him as King, Lord, and Savior, and He is all of those things. But in this verse, Jesus describes Himself in a surprising way: as a servant. He says He did not come to be served, but to serve. That means the greatest Person who ever lived chose to take the lowest place.

Think about it. Jesus washed feet, spent time with outcasts, and ultimately gave His life on the cross. He saw our greatest problem (sin), and instead of leaving us to deal with it on our own, He stepped in and took care of it Himself. Like a disaster cleanup team that comes in after everything has been destroyed, Jesus came to clean up the mess of our sin. But He didn’t just improve things. He gave His life as a ransom so we could be forgiven and made new. That’s why we can call Jesus our “ServiceMaster.” He is the perfect servant who lovingly stepped into our brokenness to rescue us.

💬 ASK IT

  1. What does it mean to you that Jesus came “not to be served, but to serve”? What are some examples from Jesus’ life where He showed a servant’s heart?

  2. What does it mean that Jesus gave His life as a “ransom”? What was He rescuing us from? Why is it sometimes hard for us to accept help, from others or from Jesus?

  3. What is one practical way you can serve like Jesus? Maybe someone in your home, church, or community this week!

🧭 LIVE IT

  • Realize you cannot fix yourself. You need Jesus to rescue and cleanse you.

  • Receive His service. That means trusting Him for forgiveness instead of trying to “handle it ourselves.”

  • Follow His example. Because Jesus served us, we should look for ways to serve others with humility and love.

🙏 PRAY IT

“Lord Jesus, thank you for showing us that serving isn’t beneath us – it’s Christlike. Thank you for showing us that no act of kindness or sacrifice is too small when done for You, Lord. So, help us to trust You completely and not try to handle life on our own. Teach us to have hearts like Yours – willing to serve others with humility, love, and joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
