Discover It
When God called Joshua to lead the Israelites after Moses' death, He provided Joshua with vital encouragement and guidance. As Joshua stepped into Moses' shoes, these powerful and reassuring words serve as a reminder that our strength and courage are not based on our own abilities, but on God's unwavering presence and faithfulness. And today, these verses challenge and motivate us to trust and obey God as we step into any leadership role.
Ask It
1. "As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Joshua 1:5a). What does this verse say about the presence of God in Joshua’s life. Do we have that same presence today?
2. "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them” (Joshua 1:6). In this verse, God called Joshua to be courageous for a purpose – to lead the people to inherit the land. What are some ways we are called to be courageous today?
3. "Be strong and very courageous” (Joshua 1:7a). In this passage, God repeats his call for Joshua to be courageous. Why does God sometimes repeat his commands. Why was this command so important that God repeats it?
Live It
1. Reflect on God’s Faithfulness: Take a moment to remember times when God has been with you in the past. How has He shown His faithfulness in your life? Let these memories strengthen your faith.
2. Embrace Your Calling: Consider the unique role God has given you. How can you be strong and courageous in this role today? Seek God’s guidance and trust that He will equip you.
3. Seek Continuous Courage: Make it a daily practice to ask God for strength and courage. When you face difficult situations, remind yourself of God’s promise - He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Pray It
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unchanging presence. Just as You were with Moses and Joshua, I trust that You are with me. Help me to be strong and courageous in the tasks You have given me. Remind me daily of Your promises and equip me to lead and serve others faithfully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
