GOD WILL MAKE A WAY
Read it
Joshua 3:13
"And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the Lord—the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap."
Discover It
Imagine standing on the banks of the Jordan River with Joshua and the people of Israel. They had been wandering in the wilderness for forty years, and now they were on the brink of entering the promised land. However, there was a major obstacle in their path—the overflowing Jordan River. Yet, God instructed Joshua to have the priests carry the ark of the covenant and step into the water. Often, God asks us to take a step of faith before He makes a way for us. Just as the priests had to step into the waters of the Jordan River at flood stage, we too must step out in faith and obedience, trusting that God will part the waters before us. It may have seemed risky and illogical, but God's ways are higher than our ways, and His plans are always for our good. And then, a miracle happened! The flowing waters stopped, and the people crossed the Jordan on dry land. God truly made a way!
Ask It
1. Notice that God didn't part the Jordan River until the priests' feet touched the water. Has God ever worked in your life making a way for you after you took a step of faith?
2. Have you ever had to move with God even when you could not clearly see the way ahead? Give a few examples.
3. Finally, describe a time when you could tell that God was intervening in your circumstances; when He showed up and made a way for you just at the right time.
Live It
1. What obstacles are you facing today that seem impossible to overcome? Pray and give this problem to the Lord, standing ready to move as he directs!
2. When God leads you to move, take courage and remember the faithfulness of God. Step out in faith, trusting that God will make a way for you.
3. Remind yourself of the largeness of God. He is the God who parts seas, quiets storms, and moves mountains. His power and provision are limitless.
Pray It
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness and Your promise to make a way for me in every circumstance. Help me to trust You more deeply and to step out in faith, knowing that You are with me, and You will guide me. Strengthen my faith, O Lord, and lead me into the abundant life You have prepared for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
